The South Korean automaker, Kia is planning to launch a new sub-compact SUV in the Indian market. It is rumoured to be called the Kia Syros, as the name is trademarked in India. Moreover, all ICE-powered Kia cars are named with the starting letter S. However, the EV version of the compact SUV is likely to be called the Kia Clavis.
The test mule of the upcoming Kia Car has also been spied several times, hinting at its design and interior features. Based on the fresh details that emerged online, we noticed that the new Syros could get features that are not offered in Kia Sonet. Let's read more.
The Syros is expected to get more premium interior features that are lacking in the Sonet. It will get a panoramic sunroof, climate control, ventilated & powered front seats, Bose audio system, drive modes, and leatherette seats. It will also come with the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite.
The recent spy images have also revealed that the new Syros will get a dual-tone flat-bottom steering wheel. It will also have steering-mounted controls. Other notable features include automatic wipers, a scroll wheel to adjust media volume, and an off-centre Kia emblem.
Another notable fact is that the Syros will come in both petrol and electric models. The ICE-powered Syros will use the same set of engines available in Sonet. It will be powered by a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol, 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel engines. Transmission options could also be the same as Sonet. As for the battery pack, it is yet to be revealed. Both the ICE and electric models will be based on the same platform. In fact, the sub-compact SUV could also get a hybrid tech in the future, making it the first Hybrid Car from the house of Kia India.
The launch date is yet to be revealed by the brand. However, we can expect the new Kia Syros to be launched in mid-2025. First, it will be launched in the petrol form while its electric avatar could be launched six months after the ICE launch. Since it will be a slightly premium model compared to the Sonet, it could be priced at more than Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom).
