Kia India is preparing to launch its all-new compact SUV which is likely to be called Syros in its petrol avatar. While its electric iteration could be called Clavis. The Syros sub-compact SUV is expected to be showcased at the Bharat Mobility Show which will be held between 17th to 22nd January 2025. Positioned between Sonet and Seltos, the Syros has been spied multiple times, giving us ideas about its new features.
Here are the top details about the Kia Syros:
Previous sightings have hinted that the upcoming Syros will have a unique exterior design. It will have a boxy shape with straight surfaces and a flat bottom. Its front fascia will have a signature Tiger Nose grille, vertical LED lighting with stylish DRLs, and a split headlamp setup. The compact SUV might get 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The rear profile will highlight vertically stacked tail lamps connected through a horizontal light bar.
The Syros will get some segment-leading features such as an electrically adjustable driver's seat, ventilated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof. Apart from this, the compact SUV will be available with a dual 10.2-inch touchscreen for infotainment and instrument console, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Kia will offer several safety features for the new Syros. Some of these include a 360-degree camera and six airbags as standard, TPMS, front & rear parking sensors, and rear disc brakes. It is also expected to have a radar-based ADAS which will comprise features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and Lane Assist.
The upcoming Syros will take power from the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. This 3-cylinder unit can generate 116 bhp and 172 Nm of torque. It is expected to be available with a 6-speed manual and a dual-clutch automatic transmission. Speculations suggest that the base variants could come equipped with a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol unit mated with a manual transmission. A CNG variant is also likely to come later.
The electric version is likely to be packed with a battery pack of around 40-45kWh with a front-axle-mounted electric motor. It is expected to offer a range of up to 400km on a single charge. It is reported that Kia is also considering hybrid cars for India. The Kia Syros could be Kia’s first hybrid car in India; however, an official announcement is yet to be made.
The accurate launch timeline is yet to be announced by the brand. We can expect its petrol-powered Syros to be launched in mid-2025 while its electric version could arrive six months after its ICE model launch. As for the price, the Syros is expected to be priced at around Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom).
