Mahindra & Mahindra has finally shown the world its 5 upcoming EVs set to be developed under its two sub-brands BE and Electrified Twin Peaks. Built on a modular INGLO EV architecture, the EVs will range from 4.3 metres to 4.7 metres in length. The first model from this line up is set for a launch before the end of 2024. But before the products can hit the market, here is a quick spec comparison to see how the SUVs will stack-up against the current crop of EVs like the Nexon EV MAX, MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona EV.

Mahindra Born Electric Vision VS Competition: Dimensions

In terms of dimensions, the automaker has trumped the competition with its smallest EV measuring more than 4.3 metres while the longest measures over 4.7 metres in length. In contrast the competition measures between 3.99 metres and 4.3 metres in length. The MG ZS EV is the longest followed by the Kona EV. The smallest SUV EV currently available is the Nexon EV MAX.

Mahindra Born Electric Vision VS Competition: Powertrain

In terms of powertrain, the Mahindra EVs utilise 60-80 kWh battery pack developed collectively with Volkswagen Group. The power output of the SUVs range from and the power output will vary from 228 bhp (RWD) to 390 bhp (AWD) configurations. The high voltage system supports up to 175 kW fast charging enabling 80% percent charge in just 30 minutes.

On the battery capacity front, Mahindra EVs are leading the charge by a long margin. A quick look at the competition reveals that the most powerful SUV EV is the MG ZS EV with a battery pack of 50.3 kWh (174 bhp) and the least powerful is the Tata Nexon EV MAX with a 40.5 kWh battery producing maximum power output of 127 bhp only.

Mahindra Born Electric Vision VS Competition: Driving Range

While real world figures are not out yet, Mahindra has claimed a range driving range of 435 to 450 kilometres for its Born Electric Vision concept SUVs. These figures are right in the ball park of the current SUV EVs between the MG ZS EV’s 419 kilometres and the Kona EV’s 484 kilometres.
