Mahindra plans to launch the Scorpio Classic this festive season; Gets minor styling tweaks along with a new Mahindra logo; Powered by the 2.2-litre m-Hawk turbo diesel engine in 130bhp state of tune.
As it was speculated for a long time, Mahindra & Mahindra will continue to sell the old Scorpio in India, albeit with a new name. Expected to be called the Scorpio Classic, this SUV will sit beneath the newly launched Scorpio N and will feature minor updates to the exterior design along with a more efficient powertrain. The spy shots of the vehicle have surfaced online, revealing some interesting details about the four-wheeler. Despite the new Scorpio N gaining huge popularity amongst Indian consumers, the brand believes that the Classic will appeal to the rural audience owing to its boxy, tall and muscular stance. This is quite evident as Mahindra managed to sell over 4000 units of the old Scorpio in June 2022.
Mahindra has really shied away from giving any major upgrade, and the Scorpio Classic remains largely identical to the previous generation model. The changes on the outside are limited to a new vertical six-slat grille, a tweaked front and rear bumper and a new company badge. Other prominent changes to the SUV include new 5-spoke alloy wheels and the removal of the mHawk 140 logo.
On the inside, the new Scorpio Classic is set to remain unchanged. The SUV will continue to feature its mechanical dashboard layout with top-end features such as a touchscreen infotainment system with in-built navigation, steering-mounted audio controls and a digital MID among others.
The Scorpio Classic is expected to get a lower tuned 2.2-litre m-Hawk turbo diesel engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. It will most likely deliver 130bhp and 300 Nm of torque, similar to the lower Z2 and Z4 Diesel trims of the Scorpio N.
If some media reports are to be believed, the Scorpio Classic will only be offered in the base S and top S11 trim with 2 seating options. Based on the seating layout the four-wheeler will be offered in S MT 7S, S MT 9S, S11 MT 7S, S11 MT 9S and S11 MT 7S CC trims.
The 2025 Volvo XC90 facelift costs Rs. 1.03 crore in India. It comes with design refinements, new-age features, and a mild-hybrid powerplant, making it one of the best luxury SUVs.
