The homegrown UV maker, Mahindra is currently testing 4 new models including 3 electric SUVs and the Scorpio-N based lifestyle pick-up truck on the Indian roads. These SUVs will go on sale in the country before the end of this year. Mahindra will launch the production version of the XUV.e8 and the BE Rall-E concepts this year. Adding to it, Mahindra XUV 3XO based electric SUV has also been spotted multiple times on the Indian roads.
Mahindra XUV.e8 concept based electric SUV is rumoured to be called the XEV 7e. It will be marketed as a more practical 7-seater e-SUV. The electric SUV's overall profile appears identical to the XUV700; however, it comes with multiple EV-specific design changes. The front design will look identical to the XEV 9e, while the side and rear design will have resemblance with the XUV700.
The Mahindra XEV 7e cabin layout will be similar to the XEV 9e, which has triple screen setup comprising of a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 12.3-inch digital driver's display and a similarly sized co-passenger display. It will come with Auto Park feature, 7 airbags, electronic parking brake with auto hold, TPMS, and LEVEL 2 ADAS. It will share the battery packs with the BE 6 and XEV 9e. The battery pack options are 59kWh and 79kWh with a rear-axle-mounted electric motor. It will also get a dual-motor AWD setup with an expected range of over 500km in a single charge.
Mahindra BE Rally-E concept based electric SUV is expected to be launched during festive season. It is basically the off-road, rugged looking version of the BE 6 electric coupe SUV. This model comes with a ready-to-off-road attitude, which makes it different from the BE 6 and XEV 9e. Both XEV 7e and BE Rall E will be based on Mahindra's new skateboard platform, INGLO. This electric SUV is likely to get a 79kWh battery pack with dual-motor setup. Expect the new rugged SUV to offer a range of over 500km in a single charge.
Mahindra is also preparing its smallest and most affordable electric SUV, which will be based on the XUV 3XO. In fact, the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV has been caught testing multiple times on the Indian roads. This EV is based on an ICE-converted platform, making it a direct rival to the Tata Punch EV. It is expected to feature a 35kWh battery pack, similar to the lower trims of the XUV400 EV. It is expected to offer a driving range of 375-400km on a full charge.
Mahindra will also launch the Scorpio N based pickup truck, which has been caught testing on the Indian roads. This model was first showcased as the Global Pik-up concept in 2023. This model will carry a different nameplate and will first launch in Australia and South Africa before arriving in our market. The lifestyle pickup will get the 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine with manual and automatic gearbox options.
