Mahindra is gearing up to launch its 5-door Thar, likely to be called Thar Armada soon in the Indian market. Ahead of its arrival, the vehicle has been spotted testing on roads, revealing its design and features. Previously, we reported that the upcoming Thar Armada could get a dual-pane sunroof and a range of new tech features. It is also believed that the 5-door Thar is highly likely to come with an ADAS suite, the same as the Mahindra XUV 700.
During testing, the upcoming Thar Armada was spotted with the camera behind the IRVM. It indicates that the 5-door Mahindra Thar is expected to get Level 2 ADAS. For those who are not aware, it is the camera and radar-based ADAS system that is also offered in the XUV 700.
This ADAS suite comprises a range of features including Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Smart Pilot Assist, and Front Collision Warning. The Driver Drowsiness Detection and Automatic Emergency Braking system might also be part of this ADAS kit.
Apart from the ADAS features, the 5-door Thar Armada will come equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, Traction Control, ESP, Hill Hold Assist & control and more.
Under the hood, the 5-door Armada is likely to house the same set of powertrain options offered in Mahindra Scorpio N. However, both the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel engine will be tuned to provide more power than that of Scorpio N.
Mahindra Thar Armada will make its debut in August this year while the official launch will take place in October 2024. As for the Mahindra Thar price in India, it could fall in the range of Rs 15-25 lakh (ex-showroom).
