Mahindra and Mahindra have confirmed that the automaker will be showcasing their Born Electric Concept range on February 10, 2023 at the upcoming fashion festival in Hyderabad. The automaker will offer the EV range in 2 sub brands, BE and XUV. We take a closer look at these concepts in detail.
The automaker had previously showcased their all-electric models in the UK back in August 15, 2022. The models will be revealed for the first time in India on the 10th of February a day before the Hyderabad E-Prix.
As the name suggests, Born Electric vehicles of both BE and XUV sub-brands will sit on Mahindra’s bespoke INGLO EV skateboard architecture. This allows Mahindra to modify the length, width, and wheelbase to produce multiple body styles on the same platform, reducing the costs and engineering efforts.
The automaker has already confirmed that the RWD variants will produce between 230 bhp and 285 bhp of power output while the AWD models will pump out 340 bhp to 395 bhp of power. The AWD models’ dual motor setup will allow the SUVs to have a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of around 5 seconds.
In terms of battery capacity, the Born Electric Concepts will use battery packs between the range of 60 kWh - 80 kWh, depending on the model. It will support up to 175 kW DC fast charging that can juice up the batteries from 0 to 80 percent in just half an hour.
While Mahindra has not announced any exact launch date yet, the automaker did confirm that the XUV e08 will be introduced in December 2024, followed by the e09 around April 2025. The BE 05 and 07 will launch next in October 2025 and 2026.
No prices have been announced yet, but expect them to be above Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom).
