Mahindra launched the XUV 3XO (an updated iteration of the XUV300) in April 2024 with turbo-petrol and diesel engine options. Now, the electric version of the SUV is also expected to arrive in the market by the year-end. Codenamed S240, the XUV 3XO EV will be a challenger for the Tata Nexon EV.
The electric version of the XUV 3XO will sit below the XUV 400 EV. Its production is set to begin by November this year. It is reported that about 1500-1800 units are expected to be produced monthly for the EV.
In terms of dimensions, the XUV 3XO will be similar to its ICE-powered model. Visually, it will carry EV-specific design, however, some exterior design elements might be carried from the standard model. The interior and the feature list are also expected to be adopted from the XUV 3XO.
The Mahindra XUV 3XO EV will have a competitive advantage over the Nexon EV, in terms of features. It is likely to get the segment-first panoramic sunroof, while the Nexon electric gets a single-pane sunroof. Moreover, the XUV 3XO EV is likely to get the ADAS tech that is offered in the regular model as well. Other likely features are ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, dual-zone climate control, auto-dimming IRVM, a digital instrument console and a bigger touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless smartphone connectivity.
Mahindra XUV 3XO EV is expected to get the same 34.5 kWh battery pack provided in the lower variant of the XUV 400 EV. Details for the electric motor and range are yet to be revealed. However, we can expect the EV to offer a range of over 400 km. The new model is also likely to get the V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) feature, which will allow users to charge their gadgets like mobile and electric scooters using the XUV 3XO EV battery pack.
Similar to the XUV 400, the new XUV 3XO EV is likely to offer 3 driving modes - Fun, Fast and Fearless. In the Fun mode (basically the Eco mode), the top speed of the EV will be restricted to around 90kmph and the range is expected to be on the higher side. For pure acceleration and fun drive, customers will have Fearless mode where the motor works at its peak.
The upcoming XUV 3XO EV will be positioned below the XUV 400 EV which is priced between Rs 15.49 lakh to Rs 17.49 lakh (ex-showroom). As for the electric XUV 3XO, Mahindra could price it about Rs 2 lakh more affordable than the XUV 400 EV.
