Mahindra & Mahindra has an ambitious EV-centric strategy for the Indian market. The carmaker will kick start the new year with the launch of its first born electric SUVs – BE 6 and XEV 9e, which will be available for delivery starting March 2025 in a phased manner. These EVs will be followed by the electric iteration of the Mahindra XUV 3XO subcompact SUV that recently caught on camera with minimal camouflage. The spotted test mule was seen charging outside a Tata Motors showroom in Rourkela, Odisha.
The fresh spy images reveal that the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV will share a strong resemblance with its ICE counterpart. It will feature the same circular projector, LED headlamps with split setup, C-shaped LED DRLs, shark fin antenna, black ORVMs and roof rails. Its front grille will be slightly different featuring a larger central air intake and badge. The EV will also get aero-optimized alloy wheels.
The spotted model is likely to be the AX trim as it features a 360 degree camera. Most of the features will be carried forward from the ICE-powered XUV 3XO including leatherette upholstery, leatherette on dashboard and door trims, Harman Kardon sound system, panoramic sunroof, front parking sensors, electronic parking brake with auto hold, cooled glovebox, Level 1 ADAS, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, dual zone climate control, rear view camera, height adjustable driver seat, tyre pressure monitoring system, a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charger and more.
Official specifications are under the wraps. Though, the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV is likely feature a 35kWh battery pack and the front axle mounted electric motor. The same powertrain does duty in the lower trims of the XUV400 EV. Its range is expected to be over 350km. This subcompact electric SUV will support both AC charger and DC fast charger.
