Months after its official unveiling, Mahindra & Mahindra has finally launched its first electric SUV, the XUV400 at an introductory price of Rs 15.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The new C-segment e-SUV is offered in two variants and is up for sale in 34 cities as part of phase 1 of launch.
The new Mahindra XUV400 is available for booking in two variants- EC and EL. The entry level EC trim is priced at Rs 15.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and gets a smaller battery pack (34.5 kWh), slow home charger (3.3 kW) and a shorter range (375 kilometres).
While the EL is the flagship model in the EVs line-up and is priced at Rs 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This model gets a larger battery pack (39.4 kWh) that offers longer range of 456 kilometres and gets the faster (7.2 kW) home charger set-up.
The new XUV400 is available in 5 exciting exterior colour options that include Arctic Blue, Everest White, Galaxy Grey, Napoli Black and Infinity Blue with dual tone option of Satin Copper.
Mahindra has announced that the bookings for both variants of the XUV400 will start from the 26th of January 2023 and the introductory prices will be limited to the first 5,000 bookings of each variant. As for the delivery timeline, the automaker has confirmed it will start delivery of the more expensive XUV400 EL models from March 2023, while the entry level XUV400 EC model will commence during the Diwali festive season. The SUV manufacturer plans to deliver 20,000 units of the EV within one year of its launch.
The rivals to the XUV400 are the Tata Nexon EV MAX and the MG ZS EV. The new Mahindra SUV comfortably undercuts its competition both in terms of price and performance.
Volkswagen Golf GTI will be launched in the country in May 2025 as a completely built-up unit (CBU) - to come in 4 exterior colour choices.
