Maruti Suzuki Baleno with a CNG fuel option was introduced in Delta and Zeta variants in late 2022. While the Delta and Zeta CNG were priced at ₹ 8.28 lakh and ₹ 9.21 lakh, currently, both variants are available at ₹ 8.40 lakh and ₹ 9.33 lakh, respectively. Now, the company will soon expand the Baleno CNG range with a new top-end Alpha variant.
Similar to the two other CNG variants, the new one will feature the 1.2L, 4-cylinder K12N petrol engine with the factory-fitted CNG kit. This setup delivers a peak power of 77.5bhp and 98.5Nm of torque. In petrol guise, it offers power worth 90bhp and 113Nm of torque. The Maruti Baleno CNG has a 55-litre CNG tank placed in the boot, eating up the cargo area. A single 5-speed manual gearbox is on offer. Maruti Suzuki claims that the Baleno CNG promises a fuel efficiency of 30.61km/kg.
No changes will be made to the new Maruti Baleno CNG Alpha trim. Similar to its ICE counterpart, it will offer a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with SmartPlay Pro+, a Head-up Display (HUD), an Arkamys surround sound system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, auto-folding ORVMs, an auto-dimming IRVM, a 360-degree camera, LED fog lamps with chrome garnish, LED DRLs, and 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. Features such as a coloured TFT display, advanced voice assistance, OTA upgrades, Suzuki Connect and Alexa Connect, rear AC vents, a driver seat height adjuster, a telescopic steering wheel, six airbags, an electronic stability program, and electrically foldable and adjustable ORVMs will also be on offer.
Most of you are aware of the fact that Maruti Suzuki is working on its own strong hybrid technology, which will debut with the Fronx facelift in 2025. It will be a Series Hybrid technology that will be significantly more affordable than Toyota’s Atkinson strong hybrid setup, which powers Maruti Suzuki’s Grand Vitara and Invicto. Maruti’s strong hybrid powertrain will eventually be introduced in the brand’s mass-market offerings, including the Baleno, Brezza, and Swift, along with some upcoming products. The Maruti Baleno with a strong hybrid powertrain is likely to come in the next 2-3 years.
