The production-ready Maruti Suzuki eVX electric SUV will finally make its world debut on 4th November in Milan, Italy. It will be a global product, set to arrive in India early next year. Here, the electric SUV will make its first public appearance at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. Suzuki’s Gujarat facility will serve as the global production hub for the Maruti eVX, with production beginning in March 2025. The OEM aims to produce 1.4 lakh units of the electric SUV in its first year of launch, of which 50 percent will be for export.
Once launched, the Maruti eVX will challenge the MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV, and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV. Powertrain details are not available at this point in time; however, the model is expected to come with a 60kWh battery pack and an electric motor. Both FWD (front-wheel drive) and AWD (all-wheel drive) systems will be offered. The eVX’s range is estimated to be around 500km on a full charge.
Maruti Suzuki’s first electric SUV will also mark the debut of an all-new architecture derived from Toyota’s 40PL electric skateboard platform (also known as e-TNGA). It’s a modular architecture that supports multiple body types and sizes, battery capacities, and drivetrain options. The e-TNGA has five modules – the front, rear, center, battery, and motor. The Maruti eVX will be around 4.3 meters long and will retain most of the design elements from the concept.
The eVX concept features a closed-off grille, an upright nose flanked by large headlamps, and a flat bonnet at the front end. It has a coupe-SUV-like roofline along with black cladding all around the body. The squarish wheel arches, muscular shoulder lines, and C-pillar-mounted rear door handles enhance its side profile. Maruti Suzuki’s first-ever EV will sport connected LED taillamps, a small black spoiler, and a massive rear bumper.
