The largest automaker Maruti Suzuki India Limited has rolled out a new software update for its 2022 Baleno premium hatchback. The car has received an Over-The-Air (OTA) software update for its nine-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system which will support wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Earlier the four-wheeler came equipped with this as a wired feature. With the help of this new OTA software update, you can connect your phones wirelessly through an Android or Apple device to access services such as Google Maps.
Furthermore, the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity will bring turn-by-turn navigation for the Heads-Up Display and MID offered in the instrument cluster. Note that this new update will only be provided to the top-spec Zeta and Alpha variants of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
To recall, Maruti Suzuki debuted its New Baleno Facelift earlier this year in February 2022. The company introduced features such as a Head-Up Display as well as a 360-degree view camera for the first time in the segment. The hatchback came with a host of other equipment which later were introduced in New Maruti Suzuki cars including the New Grand Vitara, XL6, and New-Gen Ertiga.
The latest generation Baleno is powered by a 1.2-litre K Series Dual Jet, Dual VVT engine mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT transmission. The engine is capable of producing a maximum power output of 87 bhp with 113 Nm of peak torque. The model also offers idle start/stop functionality. As claimed by Maruti Suzuki, the manual variant provides a mileage of 22.35 kmpl while the automatic version stands to deliver 22.94 kmpl. On the safety front, the 2022 Baleno is offered with six airbags, Anti-Hill Control, Speed Alert System, and more.
Although the 2022 Baleno came loaded with features, the new software update will now boost the sales of the already successful premium hatchback. A similar OTA software update was also introduced in the newly launched sub-compact SUV Brezza and as the report suggests, it could also provide the same for its premium MPV the XL6.
The company launched the hatchback in four variants; Sigma, Delta, Alpha, and Zeta. The starting price of the upgraded model’s entry level trim is Rs 6.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Its high-end variant costs Rs 9.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2022 Baleno Facelift competes with the likes of Toyota Glanza, Volkswagen Polo, and Honda Jazz in its segment.
