The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara has proven to be a successful model for the auto giant since its launch last year. Its combination of attractive design, spacious interiors, and frugal powertrain has made it a popular choice in the compact SUV segment. But with the launch of the new Honda Elevate and the Kia Seltos, the market has seen the introduction of ADAS features. Now, the latest reports suggest that Maruti is planning to introduce ADAS features in the Grand Vitara, to protect the SUV market cap in the segment.

ADAS (Advanced Driver Assist System) are a suite of features to detect nearby obstacles or driving anomalies and detect them accordingly. Nowadays, compact SUVs like the MG Hector and MG Astor already get ADAS, with other brands to introduce it to their models soon.
Not to be left behind, Maruti is also planning to introduce ADAS-tech on the Grand Vitara. It will get features like Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring, Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, and more. The Grand Vitara is already one of the most feature-rich offerings in the segment, and the new safety features will help it attract even more new buyers.
The Grand Vitara is offered with two powertrain choices, both petrol. The 1.5-litre petrol motor with mild-hybrid tech makes 103 bhp with 137 Nm of peak torque. Meanwhile, the strong-hybrid model pairs a 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle engine with an electric motor, making a combined 93 bhp with 122 Nm of max torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed automatic, and a CVT automatic gearbox. The latter paired with the hybrid motor is currently the most frugal new car in India, with a fuel economy figure of 27.97 kmpl.
The Indian auto giant is planning to introduce the ADAS-equipped Grand Vitara around the first quarter of 2024. Expect it to be priced around Rs 50,000 - Rs 75,000 more than the Vitara’s current price range of Rs 10.70 lakh (ex-showroom) - Rs 19.95 lakh (ex-showroom).
