Maruti Suzuki has just confirmed the name of its upcoming premium MPV. Based on the Toyota Innova Hycross, the three-row MPV will be called Maruti Suzuki Invicto. Earlier reports suggest that the Toyota-sourced MPV would be called Engage which the company has quashed with its official announcement. The expected launch date for the Invicto is set for 5 July 2023.
As the spy images of the new Invicto have already surfaced online, we have a clear idea of how the car looks. Sharing its overall silhouette with the Innova Hycross, the new model will get Maruti-specific styling tweaks. These unique design elements will include a new front bumper, grille, headlamps, tail lamp and a unique design for the alloy wheels.
It is strongly believed that the MPV will also get minor tweaks from the inside, especially for the upholstery.
The upcoming Maruti MPV will be powered by the same engine carried by Toyota Innova Hycross. The Invicto will come equipped with a 2.0-litre petrol engine which can generate a maximum power output of 174 bhp with 197 Nm of torque. It is also said that the MPV might come with a strong-hybrid option, pairing the 2.0-litre petrol mill with an electric motor. The combined power output will be 186 bhp with 167 Nm. Besides, the MPV might come paired with a CVT or e-CVT automatic gearbox.
