McLaren recently unveiled the New 750S, replacing the 720S in the brand’s product lineup. The new supercar remains fairly similar to the outgoing model, except for some subtle restyling and added features. The automaker says it is 30 percent newer as well. The 750S will be available in both Coupe and Spider versions.
From the outside, only an avid automobile enthusiast will be able to notice the changes provided to the new 750S. McLaren has given it slimmer LED headlights, a new front bumper with larger splitter, larger air intakes, new rear wheel arch vents, and a bigger active rear wing with 20 percent greater surface area.
The new performance supercar gets more noticeable changes on the inside. McLaren has updated the instrument cluster, which now moves with the steering column to optimize visibility for the driver. The drive mode selector has been repositioned to the side of the cluster itself. The 8-inch infotainment system remains similar in size to the outgoing model, but is now sharper with a higher resolution and is more responsive to touch inputs. There are new buttons for the aerodynamic adjustment controls and launch control beside the screen for easier access. It also gets Apple CarPlay and voice recognition as standard.
McLaren 750S comes powered by a 4-litre twin-turbo petrol engine that delivers an astonishing 740 bhp with 800 Nm of peak torque. The automaker has tweaked the engine for improved power delivery with new twin fuel pumps, higher pressure turbos, triple-layer head gaskets, lighter pistons, and a sports exhaust.
The increased power combined with the lower weight at 1,277 kgs means the 750S has the highest power-to-weight ratio in its segment at 587 bhp per tonne. McLaren claims the 750S is 10 percent faster than its predecessor, with a 0-100 kmph sprint time of 2.8 seconds and takes 7.2 seconds to reach 200 kmph mark. Its top speed is slightly lower than before set at 331 kmph.
The manufacturer is expected to start deliveries of the new 750S from September this year. McLaren is expected to introduce the new supercar in India by the end of this year or early next year. Upon launch, it will directly rival the Ferrari 296 GTB and the Lamborghini Huracan.
