Mercedes-Benz EQB India launch confirmed; The all-electric SUV will debut in Q4 2022; Will offer a claimed electric range of 419 kilometres
Mercedes-Benz India is all set to expand its EV portfolio for the Indian market as it commits to launch the EQB electric SUV by Q4 2022. Globally launched at the end of 2021, this is the electrified version of the GLB 7-seater compact luxury SUV.
Measuring almost 4.7 metres in length, the EQB will most likely come to India as a 7-seater SUV. In terms of styling, it takes design cues from its EQ siblings with a blanked-off front grille and a continuous tapered LED light strip at the front and towards the rear. The sides of the SUV feature aero-optimised wheels, while the rear end also gets a subtle roof spoiler for enhanced aero performance.
As for interior, it will be the same as the brand’s ICE model. Thus the cabin will feature a similar dashboard layout with twin 10.25-inch displays powered by Mercedes-Benz’s latest MBUX system. The inside of the four-wheeler is finished in a variety of materials, colours and textures.
Globally the EQB is offered in two variants. The first is the 300 4MATIC which gets a dual-motor set-up, producing 228bhp, while the other is the 350 4MATIC which is rated for 292bhp. It offers an electric range of 418 kilometres on a single full charge. Currently, there is no confirmation on the variant line-up for India; however, both the trims will get all-wheel drive as standard fitment.
