The interior images of India-bound MG Air EV are out; Set for a domestic launch by mid-2023; Gets a host of modern tech
The test mule of the upcoming MG Air EV was earlier spotted in Gujarat, which confirmed that the carmaker is considering the small EV for the Indian market. The mass-market EV is based on the Wuling Air EV whose interior shots are out in the international market.
Going by the images, the Air EV’s interior looks quite modern and sophisticated. You are welcomed into the cabin by two 10.25-inch screens that act as the drivers display and the infotainment unit. The centre console offers horizontally stacked AC vents below the infotainment display and gloss black rotary dials for the climate control system. An all-new two-spoke steering wheel adores the cabin with buttons on either side to control the twin screens. The centre console features two cup holders, a rotary gear selector and an electronic parking brake, however, it misses out on an armrest.
The top view of the interior provides a glimpse of the layout. The front seats seem to have adequate space, while the situation at the rear seems quite cramped. Keeping safety and comfort in mind, the company has provided three-point seatbelts and cubby holes.
The Air EV will reportedly come with two powertrain options. The lower versions will be equipped with a 30 kWh battery pack capable of delivering around 200 kilometres of range, while the top-spec version will feature a 50 kWh battery pack offering an extended range of around 300 kilometres. The Chinese SAIC group-owned automaker will locally source these battery packs from Tata to keep the pricing competitive.
