With the increasing rate of environment-conscious customers, brands have been shifting their focus to electric-powered vehicles. In the raft of new electric SUVs, there are two MPVs that will be entering the Indian mobility market soon.
Let's learn which MPVs are these and what they could offer.
MG will be launching a full-size luxury MPV which is likely to be imported from China as a CBU. This model is a seven-seater with captain seats in the middle row. The first- and second-row seats feature massage, ventilation, heating, and memory functions. The automakers will offer it with a front motor that claims to deliver 241.38 BHP and 350 Nm of torque with a 90 kWh NMC battery pack that ranges of up to 435 km.
As for the interior of the M9, it highlights features like power-sliding rear doors, a power tailgate, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12-speaker sound system, and Level 2 ADAS functions. The MPV's second-row passengers are also said to have the convenience of fold-out tray tables and touch-operated comfort controls.
The Korean automakers will be launching the first locally manufactured electric MPV in India. The Kia Carens EV will allow buyers to opt for an affordable vehicle for big families. This EV is likely to be the Carens facelift version with the electric variant.
For the design of the Carens EV, the front end will be inspired by the Kia EV5 which will give the car a striking first look. The MPV will feature edgy headlights showcasing the new ‘Star Map Lighting’ signature and a light band connecting them. Inside the cabin, we can expect a Trinity Panoramic Display comprising a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 5-inch climate control touchscreen, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
As for the battery pack, it is expected that Kia would offer the Carens EV with 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh NMC battery packs. The MPV is likely to feature one-pedal driving and a range of around 350 km and 430 km respectively.
