JWS MG Motor India is all geared up for the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show that is scheduled to begin on 17th January in New Delhi. At the event, the carmaker will showcase two major premium products – M9 luxury electric MPV and Cyberster electric sportscar. Both models will be retailed via the brand’s new MG Select dealership network. These new premium MG outlets will have their own identity with unique setup and communication materials. The MG Cyberster will be the first product to be sold via MG Select, followed by the MG M9 by March 2025.
We previously saw the M9 as Mifa 9 MPV at the 2023 Auto Expo. The luxury MPV was showcased as a halo product and to gauge customer’s feedback. Being a premium offering, it’s expected to be priced around Rs 65 lakh to challenge the cars like Kia Carnival (Rs 63.90 lakh). The M9 will also serve as a more affordable alternative to the Toyota Vellfire, which costs between Rs 1.22 crore – Rs 1.32 crore (ex-showroom).
The powertrain setup of the M9 luxury MPV comes with a 90kWh lithium-ion battery pack and an electric motor pushing out a maximum power of 245hbp and 350Nm of torque. This setup is claimed to return a WLTP range of 430km on a full charge. Its arch rival – Kia EV9 is available with a 2.2L diesel engine that’s good enough for 193bhp and 441Nm. This luxury MPV from Kia gets an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, sending power to the front wheels.
Measuring 5.2 metres in length, the M9 is a feature-loaded luxury machine. It’s expected to come with both 7 and 8-seats configurations. Features such as powered rear sliding doors, powered front and rear seats with heating, ventilation and massage, fold-out ottoman seats, rear entertainment screens and twin sunroofs enhance comfort levels for the rear seat occupants. The Nappa leather seat upholstery further enhance its premium feel.
The new MG luxury MPV also comes with features such as tri-zone automatic climate control, 64 colour ambient lighting, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and navigation support, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12-speaker JBL sound system, wireless charging pad, multiple USB ports for all rows and a 220V power outlet for the second-row passengers, electric sliding doors and tailgate, power-adjustable front seats, gray-tined privacy glass for rear passengers, a 360-degree panoramic camera, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, autonomous emergency braking and more.
