MG Motor India is all set to launch its new Windsor EV tomorrow. This will be the third electric offering from the brand, after ZS EV and Comet EV. Based on the global-spec Cloud EV, the Windsor EV will carry a similar body styling and feature list. However, its battery pack and the claimed range might be different from the global model.
Here is what you can expect from the new electric MPV in terms of pricing, range, and interior features:
As aforementioned, the Windsor EV will be the third electric car from the British automaker. It will sit between Comet and ZS EVs. Talking about the price of both, the Comet is priced at Rs 6.99 lakh while the ZS EV comes with a price tag of Rs 18.98 lakh. Considering the price of both MG cars and the position of the Windsor EV, we can assume it could be priced somewhere around Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh.
All prices are ex-showroom
MG has not revealed the battery pack details for the Indian-spec Windsor. However, the global-spec (Cloud EV) model is available with two battery units - 37.9kWh and 50.6kWh, paired to the front-axle-mounted electric motor. The smaller motor can deliver a range of 360 km while the larger unit can offer 460 km of range. These range figures are based on the Chinese testing cycle. For the Windsor EV, we are expecting to receive a smaller battery pack. However, the range will be different as it will be based on the ARAI standards.
It is expected that the MG Windsor EV will offer a range of over 500km on a single charge. In real conditions, the electric MPV should offer a range of over 350km.
MG Windsor EV will come with India's first Aero-lounge seats with a 135-degree recline function. It will have an all-black cabin with leatherette seats. The second-row passengers will have headrests for each seat.
Other feature highlights include a full-width panoramic glass roof, a segment-leading 15.6-inch touchscreen for infotainment, ambient lighting, a twin-spoke steering wheel, cruise control, a digital colour instrument panel, and a lot more.
Furthermore, MG will offer a Level 2 ADAS suite for its new electric offering. This will comprise features like Autonomous Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring System, Auto High Beam, and more.
Being an MPV, people might expect it to be a 6-7 seater model. However, MG has confirmed that the MG Windsor will be a 5-seater electric car.
