MG has teased India's first intelligent CUV, the Windsor EV. In the teaser, the EV was heavily camouflaged and was being tested rigorously at high altitudes in Ladakh. The British automaker tested the vehicle in both rough terrains and cold weather conditions. It is expected to be launched during this festive season. Get more details.
MG Windsor will come well-equipped with features. Some of these include a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8.8-inch digital driver's display, electrically adjustable front seats, wireless phone charging, multi-colour ambient lighting, and an electric tailgate.
Safety-wise, the CUV could be available with six airbags, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, a 360-degree camera, and an electric parking brake. An ADAS suite will also be on offer comprising features like an automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control.
The battery details for the Windsor EV are yet to be confirmed. However, it could share its battery with the global-based Cloud EV which comes with a 50.6 kWh battery pack with a single front-axle mounted motor. It can generate 134 bhp of power with 200 Nm of torque. Based on the China Light Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC), the Cloud EV offers a range of 460 km. For the India-spec model, we can expect it to offer a claimed range of around 500 km.
The electric crossover, Windsor will sit between MG's affordable Comet EV and the premium ZS EV. MG could price this new EV somewhere around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). As for the rivals, it will compete with Mahindra XUV400 and Tata Nexon EV.
