India’s #1
New Car Buying Platform
A few months ago, the Renault-Nissan alliance announced plans to roll out four new SUVs by FY26 in the Indian market. These will include two SUVs from each car brand in both 5-seater and 7-seater configurations. Recent media reports suggest that Renault is also working on a new smaller SUV which will be based on the new Duster. Get more details.
Length-wise, it will be approximately 4m long, compared to 4.34m for the Duster and about 4.60 m for the Bigster. Visually, it is likely to have compact hatchback dimensions with a robust crossover style. Some of the exterior highlights are a roof rack, high-ground clearance, and plastic cladding.
Moving on inside, the new Duster-based compact SUV is expected to be offered with a YouClip mounting system for easy customization. It is likely to offer touchscreen infotainment, digital instrument cluster, ADAS, automatic AC, and more. Based on the CMF-B platform, the upcoming Renault small SUV is expected to get a petrol engine producing 97 bhp. The top-spec model could also get a hybrid system.
The Duster-based smaller SUV is expected to launch in 2027 and will compete against the likes of the Fiat Grande Panda and Jeep Avenger. With Renault already working on the localisation of the CMF-B modular platform, we expect the new small SUV could also be launched in our market with Electric or hybrid powertrains. If launched, the new SUV will rival the likes of the Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue and others in the category.
As far as the price is concerned, the upcoming small SUV will be quite affordable. The brand is expected to sell it for between Rs 8 lakh to Rs 14 lakh (ex-showroom).
