It is no secret that Ford is preparing to re-enter the fast-growing Indian auto industry. The company plans to re-introduce the hugely popular Endeavour SUV in 2025. A new media report claims that the new Endeavour could be called the Ford Everest, as the company has secured the rights for the Everest name in India. For people not in the know, the American automaker uses the nameplate in select international markets including Australia and Thailand.
It is expected that the company will introduce the new Everest as a completely built-up (CBU) unit, as the company doesn't have to invest in developing and localising fresh badges, logos and nameplates. Ford is also looking at local development of EVs in India; however, the Everest is not likely to be locally manufactured. The local development is likely to delay the manufacturing of the Everest to late 2025 or even 2026. The American automaker is planning to launch the new SUV sometime in early 2025.
The new Ford Everest and the new Ranger pick-up have already been spotted in India. The pictures reveal that the new model looks exactly similar to the global-spec model. This ladder-frame-based SUV has boxy shape with a squarish front design that accommodates a large grille, new Matrix LED headlights with C-shaped DRLs at the front and a horizontal bar running across the grille that also houses the Ford Logo. The SUV has massive wheel arches, simpler & boxy profile and straighter roof with integrated spoiler. It has an upright rear-end that houses inverted L-shaped LED tail-lights.
The new Everest comes with an all-new & premium interior that houses advanced tech features. The dashboard is dominated by a vertically oriented 12-inch touchscreen infotainment unit that runs Ford's latest SYNC infotainment software. It also has a large 12.4-inch digital driver's display. In fact, the lower-spec models will receive an 8-inch digital instrument console & a 10.1-inch touchscreen unit. Other features are likely to include multi-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, ADAS tech, nine airbags, etc.
The new Everest is available with multiple engine options in international markets including a 2.0L turbo diesel, a 2.0L twin-turbo diesel and a 3.0L V6 diesel. The India-spec model is most likely to be offered with a 2.0L turbo diesel engine with manual and automatic gearbox options. It is likely to come with both 2-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive configurations.
