Audi will launch the 2022 Q3 next month in India; Based on the MQB platform, the SUV will feature major changes to the exterior design and interior layout.
After the launch of its flagship sedan, the A8L, Audi India is all-set to introduce the second generation model of its entry level SUV, the Q3 in India. Initially showcased at the Paris Motor Show, the New-Gen Audi Q3 was globally launched at the end of 2019.
Based on the Volkswagen group’s MQB platform, the Q3 has grown in dimensions and is now 97mm longer, and 25mm wider than its predecessor. The wheelbase has also gone up by 77mm translating into a better cabin space.
In terms of design, the Q3 gets a bolder and sportier outlook compared to the outgoing model. The front end is characterised by a new single-frame octagonal grille similar to the flagship Q8 SUV. Other changes to the front end include a new set of sleek LED headlamps and a more pronounced air intake with air curtains. Towards the rear we see new design LED tail lamps along with new design for the alloy wheels. Internationally, the four-wheeler comes with the option of multiple wheel sizes including 17, 18, 19 and 20-inches, however, we expect the Indian unit to come equipped with 17 and 18-inch wheels based on the trim level selected.
On the inside, the upcoming Q3 will feature an all-digital driver’s cockpit similar to what we have seen in newer Audi cars. The car comes loaded with features like an 8.8-inch infotainment unit, two-zone climate control, park assist, panoramic sunroof, heated steering wheel and a 15-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium surround sound system. To make the Audi truly yours, we can expect the brand to offer two customisation packages namely, Audi Design Selection and S-Line Interior Package.
Globally, the Q3 comes with a wide variety of two turbo petrol and one turbo diesel engine option. But for India, we expect the brand to get a 2.0-litre turbo petrol unit paired to a 7-speed DCT gearbox producing 190 bhp. The Quattro all-wheel drive system is also expected to come in the Q3, but only on the higher trims.
In India, the new Q3 will take on the likes of Mercedes Benz GLA, Volvo XC40 and BMW X1 in its segment.
