The Korean automaker, Kia is working on multiple new products including two 7-seater MPVs and an all-new electric SUV for the Indian market. The brand will launch a new premium 7-seater MPV based on the Carens, a new 7-seater electric MPV and a new electric SUV based on the Kia Syros. The new Kia 7-seater MPV come as a premium model and will be sold alongside the existing Kia Carens.
Based on our sources and information available on the Internet, here's what we expect from the upcoming Kia Carens facelift or the new Kia MPV.
The overall shape of the new Kia MPV will be similar to the regular Carens; however, it is expected to receive significant design changes. It is likely to get a refreshed front fascia, featuring a revised grille, new LED headlamps with a light bar, and a new bumper.
The MPV will come with newly styled dual-tone alloy wheels, and revised LED tail-lamps connected by a horizontal light bar. It is expected to carry a more SUV-ish profile with design inspiration from Kia EV9 and bigger Kia cars.
It is expected that the new Kia premium MPV will receive an all-new dashboard layout with resemblance with the new Kia Syros SUV. It is likely to get a bigger 30-inch display incorporating a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 12.3-inch digital driver's display and a 5-inch display for climate control.
The new Kia MPV is expected to get features like a 360-degree surround view camera, ventilated front and second-row seats, and a panoramic sunroof. Similar to the Syros, the new MPV could also receive front, side and rear parking sensors. It will also get LEVEL 2 ADAS with features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and others.
The new Kia MPV will share the engine options with the Carens MPV. The engine options will include a 1.5L, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo diesel.
Transmission choices are likely to include a 6-speed MT as standard, a 7-speed DCT with turbo petrol, a 6-speed torque convertor automatic with a diesel and a CVT automatic with 1.5L NA petrol unit.
Kia is yet to reveal the exact launch date of the new premium MPV. It is expected that the new Kia Carens facelift or premium MPV will be launched sometime in April 2025. The new model is estimated to be priced around Rs 12 lakh to Rs 20 lakh and will come as an affordable alternative to the Toyota Innova Crysta.
