Land Rover India has silently updated the price of its flagship SUV the Range Rover SV. Earlier the Range Rover lineup was offered with a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder petrol and a diesel mild-hybrid powertrain option. However the new update not only sees a more powerful engine being introduced but a 3.0-litre plug-in hybrid version also being thrown into the offering. Price for the 2024 Range Rover Sport SV stands at Rs 2.80 crore (ex-showroom) while its PHEV variant now costs Rs 2.11 crore (ex-showroom). Once booked, it is expected that both variants of the SUV will have a waiting period of 6 to 8 months.
Range Rover Sport SV is the mightiest Range Rover ever created. Powered by a strong 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine borrowed from BMW, it is said to deliver an impressive power output of 632 bhp and 800 Nm of peak torque. Its on-road performance is demonstrated via 0 to 100 kmph acceleration in just 3.8 seconds while the top speed is set at 290 kmph. As for transmission duty, it is handled by an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
In comparison to the current variants, the SV has some cool design tweaks like wider front and rear tracks, a new front bumper, increased camber, side skirts, and dual twin exhausts. Moving on the inside, it offers comfy new seats with integrated head restraints alongside a redesigned smaller and thicker steering wheel. There is also a special SV button for activating the personalized driving mode.
Talking about the all-new plug-in hybrid version, the 2024 Range Rover Sport PHEV features a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder engine mated to a 38.2 kWh battery pack. This powerful duo produces a maximum power output of 457 bhp and 660 Nm of peak torque. The SUV is said to offer a top speed of 225 kmph while its 0 to 100 kmph acceleration is attributed to just 5.5 seconds. The transmission option here includes only an 8-speed automatic gearbox. As for the battery pack, it is believed that this version could take up to 5 hours to be charged via a 7kW charger with an electric-only range of 123 km.
Available in the Autobiography trim, design-wise on the outside as well as inside; the SUV remains more or less the same. It will offer equipment like LED headlights, 22-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and four-zone climate control among others.
Range Rover Sport SV competes with other powerful SUVs like the Audi RS Q8 and Lamborghini Urus while the PHEV version currently has no direct rival in India.
