Renault is planning to launch a new 7-seater SUV which is inspired by the Dacia Bigster concept showcased internationally in 2021. The production-ready Dacia Bigster will make its global debut next month at the Paris Motor Show. Later, it will make its entry to the Indian market badged as Renault.
The Bigster SUV has been spied testing earlier, giving us ideas about its size and design features. In terms of size, the 3-row Bigster will measure approximately 4.6 m in length. It will have slightly larger rear doors and a longer wheelbase compared to the Duster.
However, it will share many design elements with the Duster including some body panels, CMF-B platform, dashboard, seats, and steering wheel. As for the tech features, the Bigster will come with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 7-inch digital driver's display, wireless connectivity, and more.
The 7-seater Duster/Bigster is likely to share the engine options with the new Duster. It could get a 131bhp, 1.2L micro-hybrid engine or a 140hp, 1.6L strong hybrid powertrain. The SUV will be available with both 4x2 and 4x4 options. It will also have terrain modes, including Auto, Snow, Off-road, Eco, and Mud/Sand. The Brazilian-spec model is expected to feature the 170bhp, 1.3L turbo petrol engine with manual and CVT unit. In fact, the India-spec model could also use the same 1.3L turbo engine.
Expect the new-gen Duster to come to India in the second half of 2025. Nissan will also launch its own version of the new Duster and a 7-seater SUV in the Indian market. The Bigster will give great competition to the Hyundai Alcazar, Mahindra XUV700, MG Hector, and Tata Safari while the Duster will rival Hyundai Creta, Honda Elevate, Toyota Hyryder, and Maruti Grand Vitara.
