The Indian auto market is witnessing new car launches almost every month. Mahindra's new electric-origin SUVs - BE 6e and the XEV 9e are the latest launches, marking a significant step forward in the electric mobility space. Leading carmakers like Mahindra, Tata Motors, and Hyundai are also gearing up to introduce their most ambitious models yet. Here’s a glimpse at the upcoming car launches from these industry giants:
Hyundai is planning to launch the electric version of the popular Creta SUV at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Global Expo. The event will take place between 17-22 January 2025. The Creta EV will be the third electric SUV after Kona Electric and Ioniq. However, the Kona EV has been discontinued. With the launch of the electric Creta, Hyundai will attract many audiences as its ICE version is already performing quite well in the market.
Design-wise, the Hyundai Creta EV will remain the same as the ICE model except for a few changes. It will get a closed-off front grille, reworked front & rear bumpers, and newly-designed alloy wheels. Inside, it will feature a dual-screen setup measuring 10.25-inch for infotainment and driver's console. Other features include a 3-spoke steering wheel, ventilated seats, a 360-degree camera, six airbags, and Level 2 ADAS.
Battery details are yet to be disclosed. However, we can expect a battery pack of 50 kWh, offering a range of 500 km on a full charge.
Tata Motors had its iconic Sierra for about 12 years in the market. However, the model was discontinued in 2003 due to low sales numbers. But, the good news is that Tata is bringing back the Sierra with multiple engine choices including petrol, diesel, and electric. The Sierra EV could be launched in the second half of 2025, while its ICE-powered version will come later.
Tata Sierra will highlight an all-new design language and plush interior with high-end tech features. Its electric version will be based on Tata's Acti.ev platform while the ICE model will be based on the latest Atlas platform.
Mahindra has solid plans to launch a slew of new cars. Recently, the brand launched Thar Roxx, BE 6e and XEV 9e electric SUVs. Other cars are also in line to be launched. One of the biggest launches from the brand would be the next-generation Bolero.
Expected to be launched in 2026, the new-gen Bolero will be based on the all-new platform, codenamed U171. It is expected to come in different body styles and multiple seating layouts. It could also get multiple engine choices including a 1.5-litre turbo diesel, 2.2-litre turbo diesel, and a 2.0-litre turbo petrol. The new Bolero might replace the current slow-selling Bolero Neo.
