Nissan India will unveil two new mid-sized SUVs in the market by 2026. The new SUVs will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Mahindra XUV700 in the respective categories.
Nissan will add a new 5-seater mid-sized SUV, which will come out in 2025. The new car will be the newest entrant in the 5-seater mid-sized SUV category, which is dominated by Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and others. It will be based on the CMF-B shared with Renault. The same CMF would underpin the SUVs that will be launched in the future, such as Renault Duster and Bigster.
The second model is going to be a 7-seater version of the SUV mentioned above. This one is going to compete with others in its class, for example, Mahindra XUV700. There are many similarities with another model the upcoming Renault Bigster, too - that is a 3-row SUV. The 7-seater model is also based on CMF-B platform.
The 5-seater SUV is likely to be offered with several engine choices. It is expected to come equipped with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, either with manual and CVT automatic gearboxes. It can also accommodate a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine with CVT automatic. An all-wheel drive (AWD) model of this SUV will be available too.
The 7-seater variant will sure boast many similarities with the Bigster. It'll be big and spacious, as the SUV will accommodate larger families and have more comfort inside.
Nissan India is ramping up capacity and headcounts. According to the report, the Chennai plant already added 600 new jobs and now plans to rollout five new models over the next 30 months, where it hopes to almost triple the volumes both from the market and exports during 2025.
The plan to concentrate on India for Nissan remains unchanged because the possibility of overcoming other challenges in the world seems feasible. It would intensify its operations within the country while improving its market share of the competitive SUV industry.
New-Gen Toyota Fortuner is expected to debut in India in 2025, possibly in the second quarter.
