A few months ago, the Renault-Nissan alliance revealed its plans for the upcoming SUVs. One of these is a New-Gen Duster and the other one would be a Nissan-branded 5-seater SUV which is yet to be named. Ahead of the launch of these new SUVs, a few details have surfaced online. Let’s read more.
Although both SUVs will be based on the same CMF-B platform and share the same set of engines, a few design and tech features will make a difference between the two.
According to the sources, the Nissan SUV will be offering more features than the new Duster. It is said that the high-end variants of the Nissan SUV will have premium upholstery and be loaded with more tech features. As for the Renault Duster, there are no such details regarding features.
As for the design, both SUVs will make a difference visually with respective brand-specific styling. The Nissan SUV will feature L-shaped LED DRLs, connected by the LED light bar. Whereas the Renault Duster will share most of the design elements same as the model on sale overseas. However, it will get the updated headlight design and the tweaked front bumper.
Under the hood, both SUVs will come equipped with a 1.0-litre HR10, 1.3-litre HR13 turbo-petrol, and 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol. It is believed that the entry-level 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated unit could be reserved for the new Duster.
In addition, both SUVs will be produced in India but sold locally as well as overseas. While the new Duster will be focused on the domestic market, the Nissan SUV will be aimed at export.
The Nissan SUV could arrive in the market by 2025 while the 7-seater Duster is expected to be launched in India by 2026. Upon launch, Nissan's SUV could see direct competition with the Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and Honda Elevate. Whereas the Renault Duster is likely to take likes on affordable midsize SUVs such as Grand Vitara and MG Astor.
