Ola Electric has been gearing up to enter the Indian EV space for a while now. Details have been scarce until now. But a new leaked patent image has revealed the design of the EV for the first time giving us a good idea of what the production model could look like.
Looking at the leaked patent image, the design of the upcoming Ola EV follows a minimalistic language. The front end has no grille but does feature large air intakes on either side of the smooth bumper. The headlights are expected to be sleek but angular units with a full-width LED light bar on top.
Moving to the side, the Ola sedan features a raked coupe-like roofline. In fact, the silhouette reminds us of the Tesla Model 3 and Model S in profile.
Overall, the patent images reveal a handsome looking car.
Ola previously had released teasers of the interior of its electric car. The teasers revealed a fully-digital instrument cluster, a large touchscreen infotainment system and a two-spoke, octagonal steering wheel with Haptic Touch controls. Like the exterior, the interior of the Ola EV also follows a minimalist design without any physical buttons or controls. In terms of features, it will get ADAS-tech, Ola’s MoveOS software for the touchscreen, connected car tech, 360-degree camera, and more.
The automaker is yet to reveal any details about the upcoming EV’s powertrain. We expect it will likely use a 70-80 kWh battery pack that will have a range of over 500 kms. It will also support fast charging to juice the battery from 0-80% in under an hour.
Ola is slated to introduce its first EV in India sometime in 2024. The brand is also going to position it in the premium segment, and will likely be priced upwards of Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom).
