Renault’s sister brand Dacia unveiled the Bigster three-row SUV in October 2024 through official pictures, followed by its public debut at the Paris Motor Show. Based on the Renault Duster, this SUV is the biggest model in Dacia’s global product lineup, and is likely to make its way to India as the 7-seater Renault Duster. While the official launch timeline of the SUV is yet to be revealed, reports suggest it will debutas Renault Bigster six months after the arrival of the third-generation Duster (5-seater). The latter one is due for early 2026.
In India, the new Renault 7-seater SUV will face challenge from cars like Mahindra XUV700, Hyundai Alcazar and Tata Safari. Interestingly, Renault’s sister brand Nissan will also introduce its own version of the new Renault Duster and Bigster 7-seater.
Globally, the Bigster SUV is offered with multiple powertrain options – mild hybrid, strong hybrid and LPG. The mild hybrid version features a 120bhp, 1.2L turbo petrol engine paired to a 48V system. It comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox and an optional AWD (all-wheel drive) system. There are multiple drive modes including Eco, Normal, Mud/Sand, Snow, Off-Road and Hill descent control.
The powertrain setup of the SUV’s strong hybrid version consists of a 107bhp, four-cylinder petrol engine paired to 50bhp, dual electric motors and a 1.4kWh battery pack. The combined power out of it stands at 155bhp. The petrol engine gets a 4-speed automatic gearbox and the 2-speed transmission for the e-motor.
The LPG version has a 1.2L turbo petrol mild hybrid powertrain running on LPG and gasoline motor, delivering power worth 140bhp. Details about the engine specifications for the India-spec Renault Bigster SUV are still under the wraps.
The cabin layout and features of the Renault Bigster 7-seater SUV are similar to the 5-seater Duster. It has a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital instrument cluster (7-inch for lower variants and 10-inch for higher trims). The feature kit also includes a panoramic sunroof, an Arkamys audio system, dual zone climate control, wireless charging, a powered driver’s seat, a powered tailgate and ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite.
The production-ready Bigster looks significantly similar to its concept. The SUV features a gloss black grille with the signature logo, LED headlamps and LED taillamps with Y-shaped light signature, sporty front and rear bumpers, dual-tone alloy wheels ranging between 17-19 inches, thick plastic cladding, and a raised bonnet. The overall length, width and height of the Renault Bigster SUV stand at 4,570mm, 1,810mm and 1,710mm, respectively. It has a wheelbase of 2,700mm and a ground clearance of 220mm. This 7-seater SUV comes with a boot space of 667-litres.
