The most-awaited Dacia Bigster finally made its global debut yesterday. For the Indian market, it is likely to be launched as the Renault Duster in 2025. However, the international version is available in a 5-seater layout while the India-spec Renault Bigster will arrive in a 7-seater configuration. Let's see what we can expect from the 7-seater version of the Renault Duster SUV.
From the outside, the extended version of Duster will have black body cladding all around to give a tough look. It will also highlight sleek LED headlights with Y-shaped design elements, a sliver skid plate, and fog lights positioned beside the bumper. The SUV will run on 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. Other exterior design elements include V-shaped LED tail lights, a chunky rear bumper with a lighter-shape skid plate, an integrated rear spoiler, and silver roof rails.
For the 7-seater Duster, Renault will use the dual-tone Grey & Black interior theme. Regarding tech, the SUV will come with a 10.1-inch touchscreen and a 10-inch digital driver's display. Other notable tech features will include a panoramic sunroof, a 6-speaker Arkamys sound system, dual-zone automatic climate control, and more.
Although the global model is offered with a seating capacity of 5 people, the Indian model will be a 7-seater SUV with an additional 3rd row. However, it will reduce the boot space while the international SUV is offering 667 litres of boot space. The boot space can be further extended by folding the second-row seats.
The Bigster comes with a variety of safety features including a rear parking camera and multiple airbags. It has ADAS features such as Adaptive Cruise Control and Automatic Emergency Braking.
Dacia Bigster is offered with a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 48V mild hybrid and a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo unit with LPG. The SUV also gets a 1.6L petrol engine with a strong hybrid setup, featuring two electric motors.
For the India-bound Renault Bigster, the brand might offer the 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine with an All-Wheel-Drive setup. A 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine is also expected to be on offer. Renault is also considering a hybrid engine option for India but at a later date.
Renault will launch the Duster 7-seater SUV in India sometime next year. It could be priced between Rs 14-22 lakh (ex-showroom). As for the rival, it will compete against MG Hector Plus, Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari, and Hyundai Alcazar.
