French automaker Renault is all set to introduce the 3-door Dacia Bigster mid-sized SUV in the global markets towards the end of this year. It will be based on the same platform that underpins the third generation Duster. Renault India has also confirmed that the new Duster and the Duster 7-seater SUV will be launched in our market sometime in 2025-26.
For people not in the know, Dacia had showcased the Bigster C-SUV concept in 2021. The production-spec model has been caught testing multiple times on European roads. Based on the spy images, Motor1 Brazil has released a new render that reveals the possible styling of the production-spec Dacia Bigster or 7-seater Duster.
The projection suggests that the 7-seater Bigster looks similar to the smaller Duster SUV. The biggest difference is the larger rear overhang and bigger rear passenger doors. While the Duster measures 4.34 meters in length, the 7-seater sibling is likely to measure around 4.60 meters.
The front design looks largely similar to the 5-seater Duster. However, the production-spec model is likely to have slightly revised front styling with revised lower bumper and added chrome on the upper grille. The Bigster's rear pillar design will also be changed to create a bigger trunk. It will retain the Y-shaped LED light signature at the front and rear.
The Bigster C-segment SUV is likely to offer 500-litres of boot space, which is slightly higher than the Duster's 472-litres luggage space. The CMF-B architecture will be modified to accommodate a longer wheelbase model, which will have a size of over 4.6 meters. As a reference, the current longest SUV on this platform, the Renault Arkana, measures 4.56 meters.
The new Dacia Bigster is likely to share the engine options with the new Renault Duster. It is likely to get the 100hp, 1.0 LPG ECO-G, a 131hp, 1.2 micro-hybrid and a 140hp, 1.6 strong hybrid powertrain. The Brazilian-spec model is likely to get the 170bhp, 1.3L turbo petrol engine. The same powertrain could also be offered with the India-spec Duster 7-seater.
