New Car Buying Platform
Dacia Bigster, based on the Renault Duster, has been spied testing in Spain. The test mule of the seven-seater SUV revealed several design details and interior features. Expected to launch as Dacia Bigster in European markets, the SUV will enter India later as the 7-seater Renault Duster SUV.
The spy shot images shared by Motor.es reveal that the Bigster will have a similar dashboard as the Duster. It will feature a large infotainment system inclined towards the driver's seat and a multi-function steering wheel with silver accents. Despite being based on the Duster, the new Bigster could get some additional features.
Further, it will be based on the same CMF-B platform as Duster. Length-wise, it will be around 300mm longer than the Duster. The spy shots also reveal its larger rear doors and extended wheelbase than the Duster. This eventually will provide more cabin space and additional cargo capacity.
The powertrain details for the new Bigster are yet to be revealed. Though it is likely to adopt the same powertrain choices as its 5-seater Duster. These might include a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder petrol hybrid, a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol paired with a 48V starter motor, and a 1.0-litre petrol LG version in select markets. The vehicle might also get a front-wheel-drive system along with an optional AWD configuration, like Duster.
As mentioned earlier, the new Dacia Bigster will be sold in Europe first. Later, it will come into India and Brazil as a Renault-badged version. In India, it is likely to launch in the second half of 2025. It could be priced somewhere between Rs 15 lakh to 22 lakh (ex-showroom). It will take on the likes of the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus and the Mahindra XUV700.
The 5-seater Duster will be launched in the first half of 2025. It could be priced between Rs 10 lakh to Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Volkswagen Taigun.
