Renault India has just announced a price cut for the Kiger’s RXT(O) variant. The trim also gets more features that were previously exclusive only to the top-end variant. We take a closer look.
Price for Kiger’s RXT(O) trim used to range from Rs 8.24 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs 10.68 lakh (ex-showroom). The French automaker has now given a price cut of Rs 26,000 for the variant, with a new starting price of Rs 7.99 lakh.
Additionally, Renault is also offering deals and discounts of up to Rs 91,000 for the top-end RXZ trim. This includes a Cash Discount of Rs 10,000, Loyalty Bonus of Rs 49,000, Corporate Discount of Rs 12,000, and an Exchange Bonus of Rs 20,000.
According to this update, the Kiger RXT(O) now gets features like 16-inch alloy wheels, full-LED headlights/taillights, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support for the touchscreen infotainment system that used to be only offered in the flagship RXZ variant.
Renault offers the Kiger with two powertrain options. This includes a 1-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine that makes 72 bhp with 96 Nm of peak torque. The other choice is a 1-litre turbo-petrol motor delivering a maximum power output of 100 bhp and 152 Nm torque. Both powertrains can be paired with a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic transmission.
The automaker recently also updated the Kiger’s power plants to meet the New BS6 Phase II Emission Norms that came into effect from April 2023 and the engines are also E20 (ethanol blend) fuel compliant.
The Kiger competes in the rapidly growing Indian subcompact SUV segment. It rivals the likes of the Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, and the Mahindra XUV300.
