India’s #1
New Car Buying Platform
While the next-gen Renault Duster is confirmed for India launch in 2025, the automaker is simultaneously developing its 7-seater version. However, the name of the upcoming 7-seater SUV is yet to be finalized whether it would be called Bigster or Duster.
Recently, the 7-seater Bigster spotted testing in Europe indicating its design and features. Speculations suggest that the India-spec 7-seater Duster/Bigster will have a lot in common with the global-spec Dacia Bigster. Upon launch, Mahindra XUV700 will be the direct rival for the 7-seater Reanult Bigster/Duster SUV.
The 7-seater SUV will be the longer version of the Duster SUV. It will be based on the CMF-B platform. This platform is expected to be heavily localized to keep the pricing competitive.
From the design perspective, the 3-row SUV will carry some of the design elements of the Dacia Bigster concept, showcased in 2021. The front fascia is likely to boast a narrow grille, an angular bumper with a boxy bonnet, and thin LED headlamps.
Some of the other exterior highlights are a twin-pod spoiler, bold body cladding, squarish wheel arches, and Bigster-like Y-shaped tail lamps with a trunk lid.
The global-spec 7-seater Bigster is likely to be offered with three engine choices, however, the Indian version could only have two powertrain options. These might include a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol unit and a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine. While the lower-spec models could get an FWD system, the top-spec models are likely to come with an AWD drivetrain system.
