India’s #1
New Car Buying Platform
After confirming the Enyaq iV for India, Skoda is considering bringing its all-electric Elroq compact SUV, reports said. Further, it is also contemplating local assembly for both cars to comply with the government’s new EV manufacturing policy announced in March. Elroq awaits its global debut later this year followed by Europe starting in 2025. Skoda's India lineup is exclusively driven by natural aspirated and turbocharged petrol mills.
“The Enyaq and Elroq are based on the same platform. It’s a different chassis, but actually very similar. So, there is a big efficiency in the parts and components business, which we have calculated,” Autocar Professional quoted Skoda’s Petr Janeba as saying. "If the [Indian] government's EV policy is favourable, we might launch the Enyaq and Elroq EVs together in 2026," Janeba added.
With Elroq’s production version still under wraps, our sources tell us it will be Skoda’s first car to embrace the Modern Solid design philosophy. There will be four variants - Elroq 50, 60, 85 and 85x - in RWD and AWD or dual motor configurations. Battery capacities and power output are to be in the brackets of 55 kWh to 82 kWh and 168 hp to 295 hp, respectively. The WLTP range for the range-topping variant on a single charge is 560 kilometres, with a DC 10-80% charging time of under 28 minutes.
