The long-awaited Skoda Kylaq sub-4 meter SUV will finally go on sale in the Indian market in early 2025. Scheduled to be revealed on November 6, 2024, the new Kylaq compact SUV will rival the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza and Mahindra XUV 3XO. Ahead of the official debut, Skoda has released the engine specifications and safety features of the Kylaq SUV.
Adding to it, Skoda has released images of the camouflaged Kylaq. The SUV looks like a mini Kushaq with some design inspiration from the new Elroq electric SUV. It is reportedly to debut Skoda's new identity in India. Instead of arrow logo, the Skoda Kylaq is likely to come with 'SKODA' lettering logo in the front and rear.
Some of the design highlights include a new prominent from grille with vertical slats, a split headlamp setup and sleek-looking LED tail-lights. The SUV comes with re-styled DRL light signatures and differently styled alloys. The cabin is likely to share the features and dashboard layout with the bigger siblings.
Skoda has officially revealed that the new Kylaq compact SUV will be powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. This popular TSI engine will be offered with six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox options. The engine is capable of producing 114hp of power and 178Nm of torque.
The new Kylaq will be based on the same MQB-AO-IN platform that underpins the Kushaq and Slavia. However, the platform is modified to accommodate a sub-4 meter SUV with a shorter wheelbase. The Kushaq and Slavia have already scored 5-stars in GNCAP for both adults and children, and the same result is expected from the new Kylaq.
The Skoda Kylaq will come with 25 active and passive safety features. It will have six airbags, traction and stability control, ABS with EBD, Brake Disc Wiping, Roll Over Protection, Motor Slip Regulation, Electronic Differential Lock, Passenger airbag de-activation, Multi Collision Braking, ISOFIX seats and others.
