Tata Motors is soon to launch its first coupe SUV - the Curvv in India. With the launch of this unique invention, Tata will leave an impactful impression on the auto industry. As is well known, the Curvv will be offered with three engine choices including petrol, diesel, and electric. While the details regarding its petrol and electric powertrains have been revealed, the new information regarding its diesel-powered Curvv has also come out ahead of its launch on August 7.
The diesel-powered Curvv will use the same 1.5-litre engine, offered in Tata Nexon. This diesel engine is capable of producing 113 bhp of power and 260 Nm of torque. As for the transmission, it will get a 6-speed manual transmission. But, the catch is that the Curvv diesel will also get a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox along with its standard manual transmission.
This would be the first time that the diesel SUV in the segment will receive this combination. Otherwise, the diesel DCT combination is generally found in high-end models. Even the other popular diesel SUVs in the segment like Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta come equipped with torque converter automatics.
Apart from the diesel, the Curvv will get a 1.2-litre GDI turbo petrol which can generate the power of 123 bhp and 225 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the EV variant will feature 40 kWh and 55 kWh battery packs, offering a range of 600 km. Besides, the Curvv coupe SUV will be available in three drive modes - Eco, City, and Sport.
