New Car Buying Platform
Tata Motors has dropped another teaser, revealing its all-new architecture name for the upcoming Curvv. The ICE-powered Curvv SUV coupe will be based on the new Adaptive Tech-Forward Lifestyle Architecture (ATLAS) platform. This new ATLAS architecture is expected to be used in the manufacturing of the upcoming Tata cars including Sierra and the next-gen Nexon.
The Curvv will be available in two versions; ICE and EV. The electric Curvv will be based on Tata's new Advanced Connected Tech-Intelligent Electric Vehicle (Acti.ev) platform. The Punch EV was the first electric car from Tata to use this advanced architecture.
Now, with the launch of Curvv SUV coupe, Tata has also introduced another platform named ATLAS. It is an advanced electrical and electronic architecture that provides superior ride and handling, best-in-class safety, and multi-powertrain flexibility.
As mentioned earlier, Tata's new ATLAS platform is capable of accommodating Petrol, Diesel, and CNG powertrains. However, it is hard to assume if this architecture can accommodate Hybrid tech.
The ICE variant of the Curvv will be offered in petrol and diesel. It will take power from the 1.2-litre GDI turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. While the turbo-petrol can produce 123 bhp and 225 Nm, the diesel mill can deliver 117 bhp and 260 Nm. It will also come with a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine that powers the Nexon. To be offered on the lower-spec variants, this powertrain produces 118bhp and 170Nm of torque.
What’s interesting is that both petrol and diesel versions of the Curvv will receive a dual-clutch automatic (DCA) transmission.
Tata has already revealed the Curvv SUV coupe in both ICE and EV avatars. The price announcement is to be made on August 7, 2024. Stay tuned for more updates!
