Tata Motors has scheduled the launch of Curvv Coupe SUV for August 7, 2024. Both the internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric variants could make their debut on the same day. Ahead of the official unveiling, some Tata dealerships have started accepting orders offline. Interested customers can make bookings for the upcoming coupe SUV against the token amount of Rs 11,000.
Design-wise, the Curvv ICE and EV will have a SUV-coupe body styling, making it look distinctive from its rivals in the market. However, some of its exterior design elements will be borrowed from other Tata cars, i.e., Nexon, Safari, and Harrier.
Tata Curvv will feature a split headlamp setup, flared wheel arches, black plastic cladding, uniquely designed alloy wheels, wraparound LED tail lights, shark fin antenna, and flush fitting door handle.
Meanwhile, the electric Curvv will share a few different design elements from its ICE version. These include a closed-off grille, sleek connected LED DRL, aggressive front bumper, and more.
Feature-wise, both the Curvv ICE and Curvv EV will come with a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Other noteworthy features include a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, multi-colour ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and wireless phone charging.
Tata Curvv is expected to be available with six airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera, a hill hold assist, electronic stability control, and a hill start assist.
It will also have a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) comprising features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Assist, Automatic High Beam, and Autonomous Emergency Braking.
Tata Curvv ICE will be based on the brand's X1 platform which also underpins the Tata Nexon SUV. In contrast, the electric Curvv will be based on the Acti.ev platform, also used for Punch EV.
As for the powertrain, the coupe SUV will get a new 1.2-litre turbo petrol (123 bhp/ 225 Nm) and a 1.5-litre turbo mill (113 bhp/260 Nm), sourced from Nexon. Both engine options could get a 6-speed manual and an optional dual-clutch gearbox. The Curvv EV might get two battery packs, offering a maximum range of around 500 km.
Tata Curvv is expected to be priced at Rs 10.50 lakh for the ICE model and Rs 20 lakh for its electric version. Upon launch, the coupe SUV will rival Maruti Grand Vitara, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Honda Elevate while its EV variant will be a great challenger to Mahindra XUV400, MG ZS EV, and upcoming Maruti Suzuki eVX and Hyundai Creta EV.
