We have known for some time that Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the new Harrier and Safari in the Indian market soon. Spy shots of camouflaged test mules have already been spotted multiple times. The latest round of pictures have given us a look into the upcoming SUVs’ interior for the first time.
Both the Harrier and the Safari have been expected to receive a major interior overhaul. Looking at the new spy shots, we noticed a new 4-spoke steering wheel. This same wheel was showcased in the Harrier EV concept at the 2023 Auto Expo.
While the dashboard is clad in camouflage, you can see the bigger slot for Tata’s new 10.25-inch infotainment system. The gear lever looks smaller than before, with the design inspired by the new Range Rovers. There are also some revised panels on the centre console while both SUVs are expected to get a new interior colour theme and upholstery.
Both the Harrier and Safari will get an updated exterior. It will feature a redesigned front end with the split headlights now sporting a vertical setup and will be positioned near the edges. The front grille has been revamped as well, now getting a vertical-slat design while a full-width LED light bar sits right above it. Moving to the side, the silhouette remains fairly similar to the current model, but will likely get new alloy wheels.
At the rear, the SUVs will get a resculpted boot lid and revised taillights that are connected by a LED light bar.
Both the facelifted Harrier and Safari will use the same 2-litre turbo diesel motor as the current models. The unit pumps out 170 bhp with 350 Nm of peak torque and is mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Tata is expected to launch the facelifted Harrier and Safari around the 2023 festive season. The SUVs will rival the likes of the MG Hector and Hector Plus, Mahindra XUV700 and Scorpio N, and Hyundai’s Creta and Alcazar.
