The electric Tata Harrier and Sierra (EV/ICE) SUVs are all set to grace Tata’s pavilion at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show, commencing on 17th January in New Delhi. Both models are expected to debut in their production-ready avatar. While the Tata Harrier EV will go on sale in March, the Sierra with both electric and ICE (internal combustion engine) powertrains will arrive in the second half of 2025. Here’re all key details of the Harrier EV and Sierra that we know to date.
The Harrier EV will share its platform with the Punch EV and Curvv EV – i.e. Acti.ev architecture. This platform is claimed to be designed to improve interior space and the energy efficiency of the battery packs. It supports all three drivetrain systems (FWD, RWD and AWD), and 11kW AC charging and DC fast charging of up to 150kW. The carmaker has already revealed that its future Acti.ev based electric SUVs will be capable of returning a range of up to 600km.
As per media reports, the Tata Harrier EV will feature a 75kWh battery pack, paired to the dual electric motor and AWD configuration. However, this setup will be exclusively offered on the higher trims. The electric SUV will come with V2L (vehicle to load) and V2V (vehicle to vehicle) charging functionalities. It will also have a terrain response system and rear independent suspension system. The Harrier EV range is expected to above 500km.
When it comes to design and features, the Tata Harrier EV will be similar to its ICE version. However, the EV can be differentiated with some EV-specific features, such as a blanked-out front grille and aero-optimized alloy wheels along with a bunch of extra features. Features such as 10-seaker JBL audio system, connected car tech, ADAS suite, seven airbags, electronic stability program with driver doze off feature, hill descent control, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual zone climate control, powered front passenger’s seat with ventilation, a panoramic sunroof, a 360 degree camera, air purifier and more will be carried forward from the ICE-powered Harrier.
The all-new Tata Sierra SUV will be offered with both pure electric and ICE powertrain options. While the Sierra EV will be based on the Acti.ev platform, the ICE version will be built on the ATLAS architecture supporting multiple body styles and future technologies. Details of the new Sierra are scanty at this point of time. However, the electric SUV is likely to be offered with single and dual motor options. Its battery pack, power and range figures are yet to be announced.
The Sierra EV is expected to offer a range of over 500km. The ICE version of the Tata Sierra could be offered with the brand’s new 1.5L turbo petrol and 2.0L diesel engines. The 1.5L TGDi, 4-cylinder direct injection turbo petrol engine dishes out a maximum power of 170bhp at 5,000rpm and 280Nm of torque between 2,000rpm – 3,500rpm.
Most of the design elements from the concept will be retained. The production-ready Tata Sierra will feature a large rear quarter glass, roof rails, EV badge on the front door and tall stance as we have seen in the concept. The SUV will also get a closed-off grille, pronounced wheel arches, trapezoidal headlamp clusters, gloss black cladding all around the body, flush door handles, and an upright nose and full-width LED taillamps.
The Tata Sierra will have a futuristic interior layout. Similar to its concept, the production-ready version might feature a flat-bottom steering wheel with mounted controls and a uniquely designed instrument cluster. The SUV might also be packed with a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, ambient mood lighting, ADAS suite, an electric sunroof and more. Media reports suggest that the Sierra could be offered with a 4-seater lounge version promising premium experience to customers. It will feature independent seats with electric adjustment at the rear. There will also be ottoman function and individual entertainment display for the rear seat passengers.
