Tata Motors is preparing to launch a wide range of new cars and SUVs in the Indian market this year. The company will release the prices of the Altroz facelift on May 22, 2025. Adding to it, the homegrown PV maker will re-introduce the iconic Sierra lifestyle SUV towards the end of this year. Before new Sierra, Tata will add new powertrain options to its popular Harrier SUV. Tata Harrier mid-sized SUV will receive new petrol and electric powertrain options.
The Harrier is likely to mark the debut of Tata Motors new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine, which will also power the Safari and the Sierra. This engine will produce around 170bhp and 280Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
The Harrier will continue to be offered with the existing 2.0L turbo diesel engine that produces 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. It is expected that the Harrier petrol will bring some changes in the existing model; however, specific details are yet to be revealed. Tata could improve the interior quality and safety quotient of the SUV.
Tata Motors had showcased the production-ready Harrier Electric at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. It will be based on the acti.ev architecture, which is versatile enough to accommodate different body styles and bigger battery packs. The electric SUV is likely to be offered with two battery choices - 60kWh and 75kWh. The bigger battery version will come with a dual-motor AWD setup. It is expected to offer a range of over 500km on a single charge.
The Harrier EV design is similar to its ICE counterpart; however, Tata has made certain changes to give it a fresh look. It has a closed-off front grille and new bumper that houses vertical slats similar to the Curvv EV. It also gets new aero-optimised wheels, and tweaked rear bumper with front-like vertical slat motif. In terms of features, the SUV gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 10.25-inch digital instrument console, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a JBL sourced 10-speaker audio system, V2L and V2C. Safety features include 7-airbags, a 360-degree camera, all-4 disc brakes, electronic parking brake with auto hold function, ESC, TPMS, and front and rear parking sensors, and LEVEL 2 ADAS.
