Recent spy shots have revealed a new special edition of the Tata Harrier, ahead of the launch of its facelifted model. While this may seem confusing for a consumer, a special edition means it will be easier for the automaker to clear out end-of-year inventory. We take a closer look at the leaked images.
As per the spy shots, the new special edition is based on the Harrier Dark Edition with added red accents. On the exterior, the front grille gets a small red accent while the brake calipers have been painted in red as well. On the interior, there is new red leather upholstery alongside dashes of the colour in the front armrest and door handles. Other than that, there are no more changes.
Since the changes are mainly aesthetic, Tata Harrier Special Edition will retain the 2-litre turbo diesel motor that pumps out 170 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
The Indian auto giant is planning to launch the facelifted Harrier sometime in 2023, getting a host of exterior and interior changes. The SUV will feature a new front-end design offering a new grille, headlights, and bumper. The side profile will remain fairly similar to the outgoing model but may get a new set of alloy wheels. Moving to the rear, it will provide new LED taillights and a redesigned boot lid.
On the inside, the Harrier Facelift will get a larger touchscreen infotainment system with inbuilt Apple CarPlay and Android Auto while the driver gets an updated instrument console. The SUV will come loaded to the brim with features like ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, ventilated front seats, and more. Tata Motors has also teased that the updated Harrier will come equipped with ADAS technology.

The company will continue to offer the same 2-litre diesel engine in the upgraded model.
The brand does not see any incentive to bring in new engine options as the existing motor complies with the new upcoming Real Driving Emission norms as part of the BS6 Phase II implementation from April 2023.
Expect the 2023 Tata Harrier Facelift to be priced a bit higher than the outgoing model. Currently, prices for the Harrier range between Rs 14.80 lakh to Rs 22.35 lakh, (ex-showroom).
Nissan Magnite CNG will come with the 1.0L NA petrol engine and a CNG kit available at dealership level. It will deliver mileage around 18-22km per kg.
