Tata Motors has finally begun testing the much-anticipated Sierra SUV in India, and here we have its first spy images. The SUV was recently showcased in its close-to-production version at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show. Interestingly, the new Tata Sierra will offer three powertrain options (petrol, diesel and electric) towards the end of this year. In the mid-size SUV segment, it will challenge the dominance of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Maruti Grand Vitara.
The spotted test mule, which was the ICE version of the SUV, was heavily camouflaged covering most of its design details. The Sierra EV features a central air intake positioned in the lower bumper section. Looking at the spy images, one can easily figure out its headlamp clusters with split setup and connected LED light bar at the rear end. While the test mule was equipped with steel wheels, the production-ready version is likely to feature 19-inch alloy wheels which could be reserved for the top-end trims.
The all-new Tata Sierra will retain some of the OG design elements as well including large alpine windows, a pronounced hood and squarish wheel arches. The showcased model confirmed that the SUV will have slimmer light units, sharper rake of roofline and shorter front and rear overhangs than the original Sierra.
The interior of the Tata Sierra is yet to be officially revealed. However, the showcased model featured a floating triple-screen setup and a new four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo. It is expected that the new Sierra will be packed with some high-end features, giving it a competitive edge. The SUV is likely to come with Level 2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance system), a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, 6 airbags and several more goodies.
Furthermore, the Sierra is reported to come with 4 and 5-seat configurations. The SUV’s 4-seater version will offer a lounge-like experience, featuring two rear seats with a sliding function. These seats will come with extendable leg support along with features such as fold-down armrests, rear seat entertainment, fold-out tray tables, rear seat entertainment screens, etc.
The Tata Sierra EV will be designed on the Acti.ev platform and is expected to come with two battery pack options. Its range is likely to be over 500km. The SUV’s ICE-powered version is likely to be offered with 1.5L direct-injection turbo petrol and 2.0L diesel engines along with manual and automatic gearbox options.
