Tata Motors launches affordable variant of its NRG line-up in India; Priced at Rs 6.42 lakh (ex-showroom), the NRG XT is available only with a 5-speed manual gearbox; Tiago XT also gets feature additions
To further diversify its hatchback line-up, Tata Motors has added a new variant of the Tiago NRG, which according to the brand constitutes 15 percent of total Tiago sales. Earlier, the NRG Edition was limited to the top-end XZ trim, but now gets a more affordable XT trim. Along with this, the home-grown carmaker has also updated the XT trim of the standard Tiago, with feature additions.
Priced at Rs 6.42 lakh (ex-showroom), the NRG XT offers bang for the buck and comes with 14-inch hyper style wheels, 3.5-inch infotainment system by Harman, steering mounted controls, height adjustable driver seat and front fog lamps among other bits. In addition to this, the new trim also gets all the NRG goodies like 181mm of ground clearance, rugged side body cladding, infinity black roof with roof rails and charcoal black interiors.
In terms of powertrain, the NRG XT is only available with a 1.2-litre three cylinder petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The engine produces a maximum power output of 86 bhp and a peak torque of 113 Nm.
With the introduction of the NRG XT trim, the brand has also updated the XT variant of the regular Tiago. The mid-spec variant now comes equipped with 14-inch hyper style wheels, height adjustable driver’s seat, a rear parcel shelf and more. These features will be available across the whole XT range, including the XTA and XT iCNG trims.
In addition, the company has launched an optional Rhythm pack for the Tiago XT line-up at an additional cost of Rs 30,000. This pack brings to the car more equipment like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with 4 tweeters, rear parking camera and the new Midnight Plum colour.
The Tata Tiago rivals the likes of Grand i10 Nios, Maruti Suzuki Swift and WagonR in its segment.
