Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) has finally entered the CNG powertrain segment in the country with the launch of the Glanza E-CNG and Urban Cruiser E-CNG models in the Indian market. The new powertrain option will increase the flexibility of choice for customers and will be available on the S and G trims. The starting price of the Toyota Glanza E-CNG hatchback is Rs 8.43 lakh (ex-showroom) for the S trim. Online bookings are also open for both the hatchback and the SUV model at the token amount of Rs 11,000.
The new Toyota Glanza E-CNG is up to Rs 95,000 more expensive compared to the equivalent petrol-powered version. Glanza is the first model from Toyota and the second premium hatchback in the class to be equipped with the factory-fitted CNG kit.
Have a look at the price comparison between the standard Glanza and its new CNG version.

The premium CNG hatchback, Glanza is powered by the same 1.2-litre, four-cylinder engine, but makes a lower 77 bhp and 98.6 Nm. The system comes mated to only a 5-speed manual, while automatic options might come in later. Above all, Toyota car claims that the new Glanza CNG offers a claimed fuel efficiency of 30.61 km/kg.
Toyota Glanza CNG maintains the same exterior design as the petrol-powered version except for the CNG badging on the tailgate. Additionally, Toyota has also equipped the 55-litre CNG tank in the boot which significantly drops the luggage storage capacity compared to the petrol-powered version. The hatchback continues to provide a dual-tone interior scheme. The high-spec Glanza CNG G trim is equipped with features such as LED projector headlamps, a 7.0-inch touchscreen, 16-inch alloys, connected car tech with OTA updates, a voice assistant, six airbags, and a start/stop button.

The new Glanza CNG from Toyota competes with the recently launched Baleno CNG with a starting price of Rs 8.28 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Toyota Glanza CNG is also going to compete with other premium hatchbacks such as the Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz, and Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
Alongside the GLanza, Toyota also announced the arrival of CNG models to its latest launch, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The mid-size SUV will offer a CNG option on the 1.5-litre K-series Neo Drive variants. The new CNG will be the third powertrain option in the new SUVs line-up which includes petrol mild-hybrid and petrol strong-hybrid options currently. Like the Glanza, the only difference between the standard model and the new Hyryder E-CNG will be the addition of a large tank in the boot to hold the fuel.
Currently Toyota has kept the prices of the Hyryder E-CNG underwraps, but we expect it to be Rs 1,00,000 more expensive than the similar petrol powered variant.
